Dr. Olga Markogiannaki

Dr. Olga Markogiannaki holds a PhD from the Civil Engineering Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and an MSc in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from Columbia University (USA). Her expertise lies in the fields of structural health monitoring, seismic assessment and retrofit of structures, climate change impact on structural vulnerability, structural design with innovative materials, etc. She has significant research activity for more than 10 years in collaboration with Academic Institutions and private companies. She is Teaching Staff in the University of Western Macedonia. She has more than 50 publications in international referred journals and conferences and has worked on novel methods to increase structural safety of bridges and buildings, monitoring of structures using vibrational measurements/remote sensing data, system identification and damage detection, deep learning techniques, design of carbon-fiber structures, vulnerability and risk assessment of structures to natural hazards (e.g. earthquake, hurricane storm surge) combined with climate change (sea level rise), etc. She has 12 years of professional experience in structural engineering, engineering consulting services and project management in public and private construction projects and has also collaborated with international companies (e.g. GES, Siemens-Gamesa). She is co-founder and partner of a start-up structural engineering company in Greece. She is Vice President of the Association of Civil Engineers of Greece. and Associate Member of the Board of the Hellenic Scientific Society for Concrete Research. She is a member of IABSE Task Groups 6.1 and 5.2 and in committees of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Dr. Anna Karatzetzou

Dr. Anna Karatzetzou, PhD Civil Engineer, MSc on Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Design of Structures, MSc in Environmental Disasters and Crisis Management Strategies, Research Scientist. Dr. Anna Karatzetzou has a long research experience (11 years) in topics relevant to the tasks dealt in the proposal. She has also significantly contributed in the preparation and submission of previous research proposals, the organization of meetings and workshops, the communication with partners and project officers as well as in the preparation of periodic reports and deliverables in the frame of previous relevant research projects. She has actively participated in 17 European and National research projects in the field of earthquake engineering. During the last four years, has been a University Fellow in the University of Western Macedonia, Greece, in the University of Thessaly, Greece, affiliate scientific staff in Hellenic Open University, a University Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineer, AUTh and a Postdoc Researcher of State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). She supervised or provided assistance on the supervision of the theses of more than 25 postgraduate students. Dr Karatzetzou has a strong publication track record (more than 65 publications) in highly reputed scientific journals, book chapters and conferences, with more than 170 citations.

Dr. Sotiria Stefanidou

Dr. Sotiria Stefanidou is Research Associate at Civil Engineering Department, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and the Institute of Engineering Seismology & Earthquake Engineering, in the field of Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. She is an experienced and active researcher for more than 10 years, having participated in 11 national and EU Funded research programs. She is Teaching Staff in International Hellenic Univ. and Affiliate Scientific Staff at AUTh. She received her PhD with Distinction in 2016 in fragility analysis of reinforced concrete bridges (AUTh) and holds two MSc degrees in Earthquake Engineering (2007) and Natural disasters & climate change (2019). She has more than 45 publications in international referred journals, conferences and books and has worked on fragility analysis of roadway and railway bridges for single and multiple hazards, machine learning techniques in fragility analysis and software development, performance-based design, bridge retrofit (RC,FRP jackets and seismic isolation), multiobjective optimization of retrofit measure selection, etc. Dr. Stefanidou works as Freelancer chartered civil engineer (Greek Institution of Civil Engineers, Greece) since 2006 and was member of the Structural Engineering/Consultancy firm Penelis Consulting Engineers SA from 2012 to 2019. She has worked as structural engineer in projects in Greece and worldwide for AKTOR SA, TERNA, TERNA Oversees, REDEX, etc. She is co-founder and partner of a start-up structural engineering company in Greece. She is a Board Member of Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering (ETAM) and General Secretary of Scientific Community of Concrete Research (EPES), since 2019 and member of IABSE Task Groups 1.8 and 5.2 since 2020

Dr. Grigorios Tsinidis

Dr. Tsinidis is an Assistant Professor in Computational Geotechnical Engineering & Soil-Structure Interaction at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Thessaly, Greece, and a member of the Division of Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental Engineering. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering (2007), an MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Design of Structures (2008) and a PhD in Civil Engineering (2015) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests lie in the fields of computational geotechnical engineering and soil-structure interaction, as well as infrastructure response and vulnerability to seismic and other natural hazards, with emphasis on underground structures, tunnels, and bridge foundations. He has extensively worked on the above topics in the frame of various research projects during his doctoral studies and as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He has published more than 55 articles in international scientific journals and conferences. His published work has attracted more than 750 citations the last seven years (excluding self-citations or citations by co-authors). Dr. Tsinidis has reviewed more than 110 articles for 26 International Scientific Journals. Additionally, he has worked as a Civil Engineer / Consultant for 2.5 years for consultancies in Vienna, Austria (FCP Fritsch, Chiari & Partner ZT GmbH, Vienna Consulting Engineers ZT GmbH), providing services in a variety of industrial projects worldwide, i.e., design of surface and deep foundations of bridges, design of excavations in densely constructed areas, design of temporary and permanent retaining structures,  earthquake analyses of buildings, fatigue verifications of structural elements, designs of ballastless railway tracks etc. He is member of scientific and professional institutions, including the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), the Hellenic Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (HSSMGE) and the Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering (ETAM). He acts as Principal Investigator of research project INFRARES.
